Betty Lou Davis, 84, adored for her zesty sense of humor

OAK ISLAND — Betty Lou Davis, 84, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2019, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center, Wilmington.

Mrs. Davis was born May 6, 1934, in Craven County, daughter of the late William Arthey Phillips and Ida Elizabeth Rhem Phillips. She had a sassy sense of humor and was full of life. She was passionate about her family and enjoyed spending time with them. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 15 siblings.

Survivors include her husband, Thomas Edward Davis of Oak Island; four children, Kathryn Maxwell Rhodes, and her husband, Dusty, of Lumberton, Linda Maxwell of Southern Pines, Martha Maxwell Gideon, and her husband, Randy, of Oak Island, and Daniel Maxwell of Chapel Hill; one brother, Bill Latham, and his wife, Peggy, of Conway, South Carolina; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and two loving canine companions, Snoopy and Ginger.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 3, at Peacock-Newnam & White Funeral and Cremation Service Chapel, Southport. The family will receive friends following the service. Inurnment will be at held at 1 p.m., Monday, Feb. 4, at New Bern Memorial Cemetery.
