
WILMINGTON — Marion Doreen “Cooter” Hornsby Brill, 61, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 30, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center, Wilmington. She was born Jan. 18, 1958, in Parris Island, South Carolina, to the late Kenneth and Patsy Evans Hornsby.
Marion was a devoted mother of two who enjoyed fishing and spending time in her garden. Marion was an intelligent woman who was talented in craftsmanship. She cared deeply for animals, especially her beloved dog, Rags. She was employed as a TIMS coordinator with New Hanover County Schools for many years. Marion was a selfless individual who gave the gift of life through organ donation.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Patsy Hornsby.
She is survived by her two children, Kenneth Alden Brill, and his wife, Lisa, of Leland and Amber Lynn Herring, and her husband, J.J., of Riegelwood; two sisters, Kathy Grant, and her husband, Eddy Grant, of Randleman and Mitzi Beck of Mount Gilead; grandchildren, Paige Denton, Kevin Miceli, Emily and Megan Bourbeau; and best friend, Paula Templeton of the home.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 2, at Andrews Market Street Chapel officiated by Fred Ashley.
