HOLLY RIDGE — Joyce Lorraine Umbenhauer Ennis, 86, passed away peacefully Monday, Jan. 7, 2019, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice, Wilmington.
She was born Feb. 28, 1932, in Pottsville, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late Stanley James Umbenhauer and Bertha Reichert Umbenhauer. Her husband, Willard Ennis Sr., also preceded her in death in 2000.
Mrs. Ennis was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt and Nana. She was a longtime member of Faith Harbor UMC in Surf City. She delivered the Star-News Newspaper throughout the Pender County area from 1981 until her retirement in 2003.
Surviving are her children, Brian Reichert of Holly Ridge, Michael Ennis (Stephanie) of Wilmington, and Will Ennis Jr. (DeAnn) of Texas; sister, Sandy Wise (Dean) of Surf City; grandchildren, Mikey Ennis, James Ennis, Austin Ennis and Izzy Ennis; nieces, Carol Degler, Deb Straub, Sharon Rynsburger and Kim Rynsburger; nephews, Scott Rynsburger and Rick Cook; and special family friend, Margaret Edens.
A memorial service will be held at noon, Saturday, Jan. 12, at Faith Harbor UMC, Surf City, with Pastor Neal McHenry officiating. Private interment will be held in Sea Lawn Memorial Park, Hampstead.
