WILMINGTON — Kerry Taylor, 69, passed away Saturday, Jan. 5, 2019, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

Kerry was born Aug. 29, 1949, in Hamilton, Alabama, son of the late Dorsey Taylor and Lois Nichols Taylor. Four brothers, Max, Hugh, Duane and Edward Taylor, preceded him in death.

Kerry earned his Bachelor of Science from Auburn University and worked for Georgia Pacific for almost 30 years, retiring in 2001. He proudly served in the Army National Guard.

Kerry had an abundance of friends from every aspect of his life. He adored his family unconditionally and always put them first, especially his wife, daughters and grandkids, who lovingly called him T-Pop. He was hardworking and could be relied upon for anything. He was the backbone of his family.

Kerry had the kindest heart and cared about everyone. You could find him volunteering at the Good Shepherd soup kitchen every Wednesday. And did he ever love his Auburn Tigers — War Eagle! He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing cards with his friends. He was a devout Christian and served God in all he did. He was the definition of a good man.

He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Susan Taylor; two daughters, Lauren Taylor Samples (Justin) and Corey Taylor Croy (David); three grandchildren, Aiden, Jackie Sue and June, all of Wilmington; sister, Audrey Fikes (Ercell); three brothers, Dwight Taylor (Mary Ann), Douglas Taylor (Valerie) and Phillip Taylor (Deborah); and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 9, at First Baptist Church with Dr. Jim Everette officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to services.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Kerry’s memory may be made to Good Shepherd Ministries, 811 Market St., Wilmington, NC 28401.
