
WILMINGTON — Clara Starling Yarborough, 79, died Sunday, Jan. 6, 2019. She was born Jan. 18, 1939, in Clinton to Marvin Emerson Starling Sr. and Catherine Shipp Starling.
Clara was a member of the first graduating class of Hobbton High School 1957, where she was valedictorian. After graduation, she moved to Wilmington to attend Miller-Motte Business College, where she received an Associate Degree in Accounting. Clara was employed by and retired from Becker Builders Supply, where she worked as an accountant for over 40 years.
Clara enjoyed traveling with her friends and family, especially her grandchildren. As many of you know, her travels were usually planned around where she would have her next meal. She was a longtime member of Ogden Baptist Church to which she donated her time and service.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Jimmy Dale Yarborough Sr.; and brother, Marvin “Bud” Starling Jr.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Jimmy Dale Yarbrough Jr., and his wife,Tammy, and Kent Starling Yarbrough, and his wife, Heather; grandchildren, Bradford T., and his wife, Whitney Curl, Katie E. Yarborough, Keely S. Yarborough and Owen C. Yarborough; and brother, J. Harold Starling.
A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 9, at Coble Ward-Smith Funeral & Cremation Service. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 10, at Ogden Baptist Church. Interment will immediately follow in Oleander Memorial Gardens.
