Stephanie Shannon Mannen, 52, mother and beloved friend to all, passed away Sunday, Nov. 18, 2018, at The Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City.
Stephanie was born on March 16, 1966, in Roanoke, Virginia. She grew up in Amherst, Virginia, with her loving family — parents, Dr. John R. Shannon and Sylvia Pullen Shannon; sister, Cynthia Shannon; and her brother, Michael Shannon.
Stephanie was a graduate of St. Mary’s School in Raleigh and Salem College in Winston Salem. She moved to Wilmington in 1990 with her husband, Jerry. She took advantage of everything Wilmington had to offer — never missing a sunny day out on the beach and always entertaining friends wherever she went.
Stephanie is survived by her loving husband of 29 years, Jerry A. Mannen Jr.; daughters, Sallie and Mary Leighton; and parents, siblings, nephews and nieces.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 24, at St. James Parish in Wilmington. A reception will be held at the church following the service. Her family asks for fond memories, funny stories or beautiful pictures to be shared with them at [email protected] in order to reflect, remember and adore Stephanie as the fun and lively woman she was.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to the Lebanon Chapel Foundation of St. James Parish.
Share online condolences with the family at Andrews Mortuary & Crematory.
