WILMINGTON — Angie Mitchell Lewis, 37, passed away Thursday, Nov. 1, 2018, in the ICU at NHRMC. She was born March 31, 1981, to her beloved mother and father, Linda and Alan Mitchell at NHRMC in Wilmington.

Angie was a loving and caring wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, granddaughter and friend. She worked as a certified medical assistant first for the VA and later for over eight years at the Zimmer Cancer Center in Wilmington. It wasn’t a job for Angie, it was her passion. She found great personal and spiritual fulfillment in helping those who needed it most.

She started dating her husband, Kris, in 2008 and was married in 2014. Her dream in life though was to become a mother. That came true on Jan. 8, 2015 when she gave birth to Gavin, the treasure of her life. Just 10 months later, she was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. She fought more valiantly than anyone could assign words to describe. Every moment of her last three years were spent loving her family and trying to be a beacon of hope to others fighting against the odds. In her 37 years of life, she was a friend and supporter of everyone who knew her. God has called her home now to shine down as an angel of hope for all who knew and remember her. To all in grief now she would say, “This too shall pass.”

Angie was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Marvin M. (Buddy) Harris; paternal grandmother, Marjorie Salter Mitchell; and paternal grandfather, Aaron Lester Mitchell.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, Kristopher Adams Lewis; precious son, Gavin Alexander Lewis; brother, Christopher Alan Mitchell (Chenoa); nephew, Spencer Alan Mitchell; nieces, Katlynn Noel Mitchell and Abigail Grace Mitchell; uncles, Marvin Eugene Harris (Sandy), Thomas Edward Harris (Brenda) and Keith Mitchell; aunt, Sharon Mitchell; maternal grandmother, Kathleen Faircloth Harris; and her beloved cousins and coworkers.

A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 7, at Coble Ward-Smith Funeral & Cremation Service, 3915 Oleander Drive, Wilmington. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 8, at the funeral home officiated by Pastor Paul Waters. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park, 1311 Shipyard Blvd., Wilmington.
