Mark Smith Dresser, 64, loved to travel and explore foreign languages

WINNABOW — Mark Smith Dresser, 64, died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2018, at NHRMC.

He was born in Winston-Salem, the son of Bettie Smith Dresser and the late Philip Lauriston Dresser Sr. Also remembered is his brother, Philip L. “Larry” Dresser Jr., who also preceded him in death.

Surviving are his mother, Bettie of Wilmington; uncle and aunt, Paul and Grace Kirkland; and several cousins and other extended family. Mark lived at Brunswick Cove Nursing home for the past 10 years and has many friends there as well.

Mark graduated from Fairfax High School in Fairfax, Virginia. He enjoyed reading, foreign languages, and he loved to travel, including having hitchhiked across the United States twice. Mark also loved “The Who,” and he especially loved any time he spent with his mother.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 24, at Wrightsboro United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery in Wallace.
