OAK ISLAND — Capt. Edward Luke “Ed” Thurston, 63, passed away Sunday, July 22, 2018.
Ed was born Aug. 2, 1954, to the late Richard Alexander Thurston Sr. and Emmie Edith Paul Thurston. An Eagle Scout, electrician, sailor, chef, class clown, storyteller and a pirate, he was loved by all and will be missed.
Survivors include his son, David Thurston of Asheboro; two grandchildren, Reice and Desirae; four brothers and two sisters.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, July 29, on the beach at the Yaupon Pier.
