
WILMINGTON — On Friday, July 6, 2018, Vincent Siligato, 78, went home to be with his Lord and Savior. Vince was born March 24, 1940, and loved serving the Lord.
He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and active in the choir and YAH Senior Ministry over the years. He also volunteered at Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard and the International Seamen’s Center in Wilmington. Previously, he was a member of Northside Baptist Church and Grace Point Community Church, where he served as usher, and First Baptist Church of Leland, where he worked with the Hispanic Ministry. While living in Alexandria, Virginia, he was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church (MS), where he was the ESL coordinator and an usher.
He was a member of the Sons of Italy from 1981 to 2001, most recently with the George Washington Lodge in Annandale, where he held numerous offices including president. He also assisted with the yearly Alexandria Italian Festival. He retired in 2004 from the Department of Veterans Affairs in Washington, D.C., after 26 years of service. Prior to that, he was employed at the Naval Facilities Command in San Bruno, California, City of New York Public Works, and major construction companies in Italy, Venezuela and New York City. Vince grew up in Sicily. He enjoyed traveling and visited many countries in Europe and South America as well as South Africa, Canada, Mexico and islands in the Caribbean. He also traveled extensively in the U.S. and was fluent in four languages. Vince was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. Over the years, he had many friends in every area where he had lived. Family and friends are truly going to miss him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sandra Reed Seco Siligato; children, Giuseppe Siligato, and his wife, Ana, of Florida, Carmelo Siligato, and his and wife, Theresa, of Collierville, Tennessee, and Sandra Siligato of Florida; stepsons, Pedro Seco III, and his wife, Fanny, of Woodbridge, Virginia, and Pablo Jose’ Seco of Clermont, Florida; grandchildren, Luigi, Olivia, Sophia and Gabriella Siligato; step-grandsons, Jeremiah Joseph (J.J.) Seco and Pedro (Peter) Seco IV; brother, Vittorio Siligato of Nelspruit, South Africa; brother-in-law, Lester P. Reed, and his wife, Cheryl, of Beaver, Pennsylvania; and several nieces, nephews, aunts and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sebastiana D’Agostino Siligato and Giuseppe Siligato; sister, Angela Siligato Pantano; and brother, Riccardo Siligato.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, July 9, at Andrews Market Street Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 10, at Andrews Market Street Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Donnie Lovette officiating.
