WILMINGTON — Mabel Bell Price, 92, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Sunday, July 1, 2018.
She was born Nov. 27, 1925, in Kings Mountain, one of five children of the late Thomas Edgar Bell and Mamie Dixon Bell.
Mrs. Price was a follower of Jesus, loving wife, wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and a caring and devoted pastor’s wife.
After marrying in 1944, she and her husband, the Rev. C.R. Price, surrendered to serve in the gospel ministry. Mrs. Price faithfully served alongside her husband as he pastored Community Baptist Church in Dallas from 1951 to 1958, East Wilmington Baptist Church in Wilmington from 1959 to 1989 and Curry Community Baptist Church in Currie from 2001 to 2005. In addition, Mrs. Price worked as an administrative secretary at the New Hanover County Health Department for 27 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, the Rev. Charles Ray Price; daughter, Catherine Price; sister, Wanda Bell; and brothers, Carl and Joe Bell.
Surviving are her daughters, Carol Ward (Frank), Janice Jenkins (Bobby), Donna Nance (Dean-deceased), Dottie Bordeaux (Horace) and Barbara Golden (Allen-deceased); grandchildren, Ginger Roberts (Rick), Gela Butner (Mickey), Robin King (Donnie), Cliff Nance, Shane Bordeaux, (Elaine), Chuck Jenkins (Sarah), Christy Hancock (David), Dawn Strickland (Ben) and Susan Bryant; great-grandchildren, Christian (Brandi), Geordi and Jenna Roberts, Austin and Amber Butner, Price, Lindsey and Mason King, Austin Clare and Laura Beth Jenkins, Olivia and Belle Nance, D.J., Aubree and Shelbie Hancock, Connor, Julian and Kenslee Bordeaux, Cameron and Landon Strickland, Michael, Maritta, Caleb, Rachel, Silas, Ezra and Uriah Bryant; great-great-grandchildren, Reese and Remington Roberts; and sister, Cloe Bell McDaniel.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, July 5, at Andrews Mortuary Valley Chapel, 4108 S. College Road with the Rev. Donnie King Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Oleander Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Cliff Nance, Chuck Jenkins, Shane Bordeaux, Ben Strickland, David Hancock, Mickey Butner and Rick Roberts.
