BOILING SPRING LAKES — Pete Williams, 67, passed away Tuesday, June 5, 2018, at SECU Hospice of Brunswick in Bolivia after a valiant 3 ½ year fight with cancer.
Mr. Williams was born Dec. 18, 1950, son of the late Norlie Williams and Ruby Williams Britt. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served on the USS San Diego for most of his service. He was able to reconnect with many of his Navy buddies at their biannual reunions.
Pete was known by others as having a huge personality that always put a smile on their face. He adored his family and enjoyed playing cards and board games with them. He was a hard worker and loved camping and fishing. Pete was enthusiastic about just loving life and being around friends and family, especially his grandchildren. During some of his chemotherapy treatments, Pete enjoyed the therapy dogs that would stop by for a visit to brighten his day.
Survivors include his wife, Susan Williams of Boiling Spring Lakes; children, Scott Williams, and his wife, Angela, of Wilmington, and Ryan Williams of Boiling Spring Lakes; brothers, Dickie Williams, and his wife, Joe Ann of St. Pauls, Austin Williams, and his wife, Gwen, of Grey’s Creek, and Alan Britt of Durham; sister, Sharon Paul, and her husband, Tom, of Oak Island; two loving grandchildren, Bryson and Alexandra Williams; and several cousins, nieces and nephews he loved dearly.
A gathering of friends will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 9, at Peacock-Newnam & White Funeral and Cremation Service in Southport.
