WILMINGTON — Robert Homer “Bobby” Baker Jr., 79, passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2018, surrounded by his loving family at the New Hanover Regional Medical Center while in hospice care.

Bobby is survived by his daughters, Bonita Baker Pringle and Allyson Baker Newton (Brent); and grandson, Caleb Austin Pringle.

Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Homer Baker and Christine Henry Baker; and two sisters, Patsy Baker Bryant and Barbara Baker Bradshaw.

Bobby was born Dec. 31, 1938, in Wake county, North Carolina. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. His education was very helpful in running his family’s business, Homer Baker Distributing Co., for many years. Bobby spent most days enjoying nature, feeding and watching the birds, and going to his local American Legion, Post No. 129, to be with friends. In his earlier days, Bobby loved being on the ocean and fishing with his buddies.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, May 17, at Greenlawn Memorial Park with Dr. Donnie Lovette officiating services.

Our father was a family man and wonderful provider with a selfless heart of gold.

Memorial gifts made to Calvary Christian School, 423 N. 23rd St., Wilmington, NC 28405; or Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401, in loving memory of Bobby would be greatly appreciated.
