LELAND — Susan Mabe Hyatt, 60, passed away peacefully Monday, May 7, 2018, after a 10-month, courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, with her loving family by her side. She fought with a smile, grace and a warrior spirit.
Susan was born Aug. 3, 1957, in Thomasville to John and Sarah Mabe, who preceded her in death.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 27 years, Jackie Hyatt; daughter, who was also her best friend, Michelle Miller, and her husband, Steve, also of Leland; son, Randy Daniels of Warner Robins, Georgia, who always kept her laughing; step-daughter, Brandy Cook, and her husband, Keith, of Mullins, South Carolina; three grandchildren, Justin and Joshua Miller and Deanna Miller, who brought so much joy to her life; five brothers and four sisters, Earl Mabe (Gayle), Keith Mabe (Janet), Mark Mabe (Shelia), Doug Mabe, Scotty Mabe (Terri), Debbie Moses (Wayne), Shirley Lowder (Brian), Jamie Fitzsimmons (Bossy) and Tracy Spivey (Dennis); numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and her best friend, Beverly Soles.
She enjoyed shopping with her husband and daughter, going out to eat with family and friends, spending quality time with her grandchildren and taking vacations to the mountains. She loved her family so much. She touched so many lives and brought so much joy to anyone who knew her. She could light up a room with her bright smile.
We would like to thank her family and friends for their outpouring of love during this time.
A special thank you to Dr. Schreiber and the team of nurses on the 7th floor at New Hanover Regional Medical Center and Lower Cape Fear Hospice.
