WILMINGTON — Harold Wade Wright, 64, was called home to his Savior in heaven Wednesday, April 25, 2018. He was born Sept. 30, 1953, in Loris, South Carolina. He was preceded in death by his father, the Rev. Dewey M. Wright; and mother, Gladys Boswell Wright.
He is survived by his lifelong love of 42 years, Anna Marie Walton Wright; and the joys of his life, grandchildren, Ilias and Walter, and honorary grandchildren, David and Autumn; daughter, Sonya W. Spaulding (Will); sons: Harold “Wade” Wright II and Dustin Wade Wright; sister, Hilda Wright Peach (Jim); brothers, Joe “Buddy” Wright (Brenda) and Charles D. Wright Sr. (Sue); and a multitude of loved relatives.
He worked for the City of Wilmington for 46 years starting at the Muni for Lawrence Cook, retiring as the Parks and Rec Tree Crew chief in 2017. He coached softball/baseball at Cape Fear Optimist for several years.
He was a devoted and loving husband, father, father-in-law, brother and “Pap” to his family who would do anything for anybody at any time with love. He said, “It is well with my soul because I know that I know that I know.”
He lived for God first and his family, golf and riding his Harley, “Big Blue.” He was a longtime member and pastor’s counselman at the church.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, April 29, at The River at Wrightsville Avenue Church of God, 2132 Wrightsville Ave., Wilmington.
