WILMINGTON — Joseph Henry “Joe” Allen III, 85, formerly of Morristown, N.J., passed away peacefully Monday, April 9. 2018, while in hospice care.

Joe is survived by his wife of 64 years, Theresa “Joan” Allen; sister, Karen Masaitis, and her husband, Gene; three children, Joseph Allen, Lorraine Robinson, and her husband, Anthony, and Thomas Allen, and his wife, Dawn Gual; and three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Joe was born in Bar Harbor, Maine, and grew up on The Cape Macy Ladd Estate in Far Hills, N.J., where his father was a chauffeur before moving to Bernardsville, N.J.

Joe was very proud of his military service in the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War. After leaving the service, he married the “love of his life,” Joan Miller. His love and devotion to her was an inspiration to anyone who knew them. He went on to work at New Jersey Bell Telephone Company and worked his way to upper management.

After 30 years of dedicated service, he retired to Wilmington, N.C. Joe loved the beach and mostly spending time with family and friends. To say he will be missed is an understatement.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, April 21, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
