SUNSET BEACH — William Harris “Bill” Locke Jr., 82, passed away Thursday, April 12, 2018. He was born April 17, 1935, in Philadelphia, Pa., the son of William Harris Locke and Florence Leibfried Locke.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by Mary Edgar Locke, who raised him as her own.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and remained a true patriot through membership in various veteran organizations. He spent his career with Gulf/Chevron Oil Corporation as a marketing manager in Baltimore, Md. In 2003, he retired happily to play golf in Sunset Beach.
He lived life to the fullest and loved to be surrounded by friends and family.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Diane Wright Locke; sons, William Harris Locke III (Naz) of Washington, D.C., and Thomas Edward Locke (Angela) of Virginia Beach, Va.; daughters, Debra Locke Siegel (Craig) of Havre De Grace, Md., and Jennifer Anne Wagner (Michael) of Minneapolis, Minn.; brother, Robert A. Locke of Willow Street, Pa.; nine grandchildren, Allison, Andrew and Evan Siegel, Lindsay, Thomas, Michael and Ethan Locke, and Lily and Coleton Wagner.
A celebration of life will be conducted at 11 a.m., Tuesday, April 17, at Brunswick Funeral Service, Shallotte, with the Rev. Jason Benton officiating. Doors will open at 10 a.m. for visitation.
