Thomas Edward “Tom” Gore, 88, born May 5, 1929, in Columbus County, N.C., peacefully passed away Sunday, April 8, 2018, surrounded by family at SECU Hospice House of Brunswick.

He was the son of the late Eddie M. Gore and Eva Virginia Stocks. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Thurston, R.J., Winston, Rembert and Bill Gore; and two sisters, Cleo Gore Ward and Alice Grey Johnson.

Tom is survived by his wife of 70 years, Virginia Long Gore; sister, Freda Fipps, and her husband, Norwood, of Tabor City, N.C.

He worked for T&T Oil Company in Whiteville for many years. After moving to Brunswick County, he was employed by Brunswick Electric. After his retirement, he enjoyed working many years for Naber Chrysler Dodge. Tom was an avid gardener and could often be seen driving his golf cart.

Tom was a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather. He had one son, Danny M. Gore (Judy), and one daughter, Regina Gore Evans(Thomas) of Shallotte. He had four grandchildren, Natasha Gore Robinson, Scott Gore, Ryan Gore and Susan Evans Lilly. He also had six great-grandchildren, Aaron Robinson, Alyssa Robinson, Caroline Gore, Kaitlyn Gore, Liam Hayes, and Sophia Lilly. He was the great-great-grandfather of two, Adley and Preston Robinson.

Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m., Tuesday, April 10, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 4669 Mintz St., Shallotte. The funeral services will commence immediately following the visitation, followed by graveside services at Mintz Cemetery, Shallotte. Bishop Jim Fish of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints will officiate.
