WILMINGTON — Charles Michael Dina, 91, passed away peacefully Friday, April 6, 2018.

Born Feb. 11, 1927, in Perth Amboy, N.J., son of the late James and Marie Dina. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Michael and Richard; brother-in-law, Clement Albertini; son, Chris Kambourelis, and grandson, David Kambourelis.

He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Anne; daughter, Carol, and her husband, Ray Underwood, of Marbledale, Conn.; sons, Dr. Steven Dina of Buffalo, N.Y., and Doug, and his wife, Patty, of Flowery Branch, Ga.; seven grandchildren, Jason, Dan, Spencer, Stephanie, Samantha, Michael and Sawyer; sister, Evelyn Albertini; and brother, James.

Upon completion of high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy during World War II, assigned to the Naval Air Force, serving from 1945 to 1946. He graduated from St. Francis College, Brooklyn, with a degree in mathematics and completed post-graduate studies in finance and accounting at Queens College, New York.

Charles’ work in financing and accounting crossed a variety of industries and companies. His career culminated as the V.P. of Finance at Telephonics, and focused on military research and manufacturing.

He spent his leisure time coaching basketball and baseball and playing golf. No one was a more devoted St. Louis Cardinal fan; his dedication began with the Gashouse Gang of 1937.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, April 10, at Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel. A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 11, at St. Mark Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Oakdale Cemetery.
