John Henry Johnson, 85, of Southport, passed away Wednesday, March 7, 2018.
Mr. Johnson was born Sept. 1, 1932, in Brunswick County. He was a longtime member of the Southport Fire Department. John Henry had worked at Leggett’s L.P. Gas, Radio Shack and Amuzu Theater.
Survivors include his beloved nephew, Terry Tharp of Supply; several other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews including Terra, Peedee, Mitzi, Kathy and Robby. He is also survived by dear friends, Randy, Mac, Jeanne and Sandy; and his loving dog, T.T.
Preceding him in death were his five brothers, Robert Lee Johnson, Archie Johnson, Charlie Johnson, Wesley Johnson and Jim Johnson; and four sisters, Annie Lewis, Mary Johnson, Addie Johnson and Emma Tharp.
A funeral service, with firefighter honors, was held Friday, March 9, at Peacock-Newnam & White Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Charles Drew officiated services. Burial followed in Northwood Cemetery.
