WILMINGTON — Mildred Hood Pittman, 97, passed away Sunday, Feb. 25, 2018, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice and LifeCare Center, Wilmington.
She was born Oct. 17, 1920, daughter of the late Thaddeus W. Hood and Mary Naomi Hollemon Hood.
Mrs. Pittman was a longtime member and a past treasurer of Pine Valley Baptist Church, Wilmington, and was employed at the dental practice of Dr. Bernard Morgan for over 30 years. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing cards and Scrabble.
Her husband, John William Pittman; daughter, Rebecca H. Pittman; and sister, Grace Carter, preceded her in death.
Surviving are her son, Greg Pittman, and his wife, Karen, of Wilmington; grandson, Neil Gregory Pittman; brother, Ray N. Hood; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 3, at Andrews Mortuary Valley Chapel, 4108 South College Road, Wilmington, with the Rev. Melvin Hall officiating. Interment will follow in Oakdale Cemetery.
