WILMINGTON — David Morris Stephens, 50, born Nov. 5, 1967, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2018.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Stephens, and is survived by his wife, Tracy Brooks Stephens; sons, William and Samuel Stephens; daughter, Faith Stephens; father, Jerry Stephens; brother, Berry (Mary); sister, Angie (Greg); and nieces, nephews and many other beloved relatives.
David was part of the International Paper family for 30 years.
David was full of life and energy. Friends were blessed by his contagious laugh, stories and loving spirit. You may have heard his imitations of a train, chicken, dog or cat and knew David was close by. David enjoyed the north end, gardening, yardwork, fishing, surfing and being with his family. He was a wonderful husband, father, son, brother, uncle, coworker and neighbor. David’s children had always been the light of his life. He will be loved and missed by all.
A celebration of his life will be held at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 24, at Long Leaf Baptist Church, Wilmington. The Rev. Josh Riley and David’s cousin, Chaplain Troy Todd, will officiate the service. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the church prior to services. A reception and luncheon will take place after the celebration of David’s. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
