SNEADS FERRY — Rodger Dale Oliver, 52, died Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2018, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

Rodger was born Jan. 1, 1966, in Kings Mountain, N.C., son of Louise Blackwell Oliver and the late Charles Oliver.

Known for his gentle spirit, Rodger was a loving and loyal man who would do anything and everything for those around him. He enjoyed camping, fishing and time on the water and wanted to share his passion with others in hopes of giving them the same joy.

He was an exceptional craftsman and quickly gained a loyal client base when he began his own company, Seaside Renovations. His greatest pride and joy were his wife, family and the time they shared together. Above all, his faith in the Lord provided him the strength and courage to not only fight his cancer, but to be an inspiration for others to walk a closer path with God. He would be most proud of that.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Melanie Oliver; two daughters, Ashley Oliver Stevens (Caleb) of Havelock, N.C., and Crystal Oliver Prevost (David) of Supply, N.C.; granddaughter, Mackenzie “Rae Rae” Prevost; two brothers, Charles “Ronnie” Oliver and Ricky Oliver (Lori); four sisters, Kathy Frye (Gary), Gloria Jean Roper (the late, Mike Roper), Donna Wilson (Ray), all from the Kings Mountain area, and Kimberly Michelle Hargrave (Timmy) of Seven Lakes; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Glynda and Jim Bradshaw of Sneads Ferry, N.C.; and numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members who he loved dearly.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 3, at Andrews Hampstead Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 4, at Andrews Hampstead Chapel with Dr. Donald J. Christian officiating. Interment will follow in Sea Lawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Rodger’s memory may be made to Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA), 600 Celebrate Life Parkway, Newnan, GA 30265. Please include a note specifying that it is in memory of him and is to go to the “Assistance in Healthcare”(AIH) Fund.
