SOUTHPORT — Calvin Merle Muncy, 84, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2018.
Mr. Muncy was born Oct. 27, 1933, in Hyden, Ky., to the late Bige and Dicey Woods Muncy. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in the Korean Conflict. Mr. Muncy had worked as a building contractor, an outdoor enthusiast and an avid poker player. He enjoyed being with his family, especially his grandchildren. Mr. Muncy attended Bethel Baptist Church.
Mr. Muncy was preceded in death by his wife, Hilda Mae Sellers Muncy; three sons, Calvin Muncy Jr., Marlan Bige Muncy and Martin Ellis Muncy; brothers, Edgar Muncy and Billy Muncy; and sisters, Ann Muncy Price and Evelyn Muncy Rickey.
Survivors include his son, Mike Muncy, and his wife, Amanda; brother, Bobby Muncy; six grandchildren, Madison Shae Hill, Timothy Scott Hill, Kristen Muncy, Calvin Allen Muncy, Michael Logan Barbee and Chad Ellis Muncy; and special friend, Holly Lysaght.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 3, at Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. Jeff Saggus officiating. Burial will follow in the Northwood Cemetery.
