WILMINGTON — Rebecca Elizabeth “Becky” Thompson, 57, passed away Monday, Jan. 22, 2018, after a brief illness.
She was born June 17, 1960, in Primghar, Iowa, the daughter of William Bruce Thompson and Geri Lowe Thompson.
Becky graduated from John T. Hoggard High School in 1978, attended UNC-Wilmington from 1978 to 1981, and then graduated from East Carolina University with a B.A. in psychology in 1984.
She was preceded in death by her father, Bill Thompson.
She is survived by her mother, Geri Thompson of Wilmington; sisters, Heidi Thompson Stogner, and her husband, Greg, of Nashville, Tenn., Suzanne Thompson McSpadden, and her husband, Joe, of Midlothian, Va., Jennifer Thompson Bennett, and her husband, Steve, of Castle Hayne, N.C., and Robin Thompson Bellias, and her husband, Jay, of Wilmington, N.C.; brother, David William Thompson, and his wife, Lisa, of Wilmington, N.C.; and 16 nieces and nephews.
A gathering for friends and family will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, Jan. 26, at the home of her sister, Robin Bellias, at 4228 Brinkman Drive, Wilmington.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to Helping Hands Monkey Helpers.
