WILMINGTON — Adam Joseph Laitin Curtis, 33, passed away unexpectedly, Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2018. He was born Sept. 22, 1984, in Washington, D.C., and raised in Poolesville, Md.

Adam relocated to the Wilmington, N.C., area from Annapolis, Md., in 2013 with his father, Craig Curtis, and stepmother, Dianne Jones. His natural mother, Sigrid Christine Laitin, resides in Gaithersburg, Md.

Adam was a project manager for Devco Homes. His immediate supervisor, Anton De Vries, was a mentor and guiding light. In his short time in Wilmington, Adam made close friendships and associations. His humor was irreverent, his intellect and curiosity unquenchable. His loyalty to those he knew and loved was deep. Adam was well read, traveled and had lived outside the country, most recently traveling the wilds of Canada in search of his next great adventure. He loved to cook and welcomed all life experiences with open arms.

In addition to his immediate family, he leaves behind his stepbrother, Jordon Jones of Baltimore, Md.; uncles, an aunt and numerous cousins.

Adam’s immediate family will be receiving anyone who would like to drop by for light food and drink from 2 to 5 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 3, at their home, 1019 Stonesthrow Court, Leland, N.C. All are welcome.

Adam’s friends will be hosting a celebration of life for Adam from 1 to 10 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 4, at Reggie’s 42nd St. Tavern, 1415 S. 42nd St., Wilmington, NC 28403. Raffles will be held to raise money to get Adam a plaque for the bar. There will be a few local bands that will be playing that day/evening as well! Adam loved to be around people, so come out and share stories, laugh about goofy moments we had with him, and party like he would want us to!
