WILMINGTON — David McDonald “Don” Price, 87, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2018, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice. He was born March 20, 1930, in Selma, N.C., to parents David and Isabelle Price.

Our daddy, he is loved. He was a man of wisdom and strength, of courage and sacrifice. He had an unwavering belief in the Lord of God, and that through him, he would have everlasting life and peace.

Dad had a successful business, TideWater Drywall that spanned for many years; his footprint is in many of the homes and businesses throughout Wilmington and other areas. Many builders called on him knowing that if dad was doing the job, the job would be done to
perfection.

He was proud of his work, and his dedication always went above and beyond. Dad enjoyed flowers and gardening; this is where he spent most of his time. Every spring, he had a spectacular show of beautiful flowers and vegetables. He loved poetry, reading and watching old Turner Classic movies.

Dad loved to travel and learn about different cultures and just really enjoyed talking with others and having good conversation. We all know daddy loved to talk, he would sometimes do so much that he would lose his voice. We realize those stories were bits and pieces of his life, his puzzle, they were important to him and important for him to share.

Dad’s mind was very keen and numbers rolled off like yesteryears were yesterdays. He didn’t forget much and didn’t hesitate to use these as teaching moments.

In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth; daughter, Diane Wessell; grandson, Robert; and sister, Fran Sullivan.

David is survived by his daughters, Donna Walters (James Sullivan), Deborah Millard (Randy), Kathy (Ronnie Finucan), Deb Loding, Patricia Britt and Vickie Hogan (Shannon); Paul Parish and Sean Lynge; grandchildren, David Walters (Evelyn), Mark Walters
(Terese), Robin Lynge, Jacob Wessell (Mara), Daniel Parish (Devon Fleming), Lindsey Zurcher (Andy), Jeff Morgan (Chrissy), Luke Britt (Shelly) and Jacob Britt; great-grandchildren, Camryn and Austin, Asher and Keely, Drew and Luke, Jaylee and Chloe, and Wyatt. David had an immense amount of love for his family and friends and will forever be missed! Truly a life well lived. The family extends their special thanks to his best friends, R.H., Craig, Howard and Skeet, he thought the world of each one of you.Thank you for being a great friend.
