Franklin Kevin Newton, 58, treasured his Harley Davidson

WILMINGTON — Franklin Kevin Newton, 58, passed away Thursday, Jan. 4, 2018, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

He was born Feb. 15, 1959, in Wilmington to James Monroe Newton and Frances Irene Goff Newton.

Kevin was a graduate of Hoggard High School and a proud veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a member of Long Leaf Baptist Church and the Orient Masonic Lodge No. 395 A.F. & A.M.

Kevin had a long career as a maintenance mechanic starting with B&W, American Crane and ending at Terex Manufacturering.

Kevin enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, and he enjoyed hunting, fishing, collecting guns and was very proud of his Harley Davidson motorcycle.

Kevin is survived by his wife, Beverly Collum Newton; sons, Kevin Newton Jr., and his wife, Cindy, and Jeremy Hannel, and his wife, Amanda; four grandchildren, Brittany, Pete, Riley and Aria; and one great-grandson, Gentry; sisters and brothers, Brenda Bell, Sandra Cayton, Marsha Kanapaux, Jimmy Newton, Jackie LaBrecque and Greg Newton; four cats, Bigg, Smokey, Nitro, and his special daddy’s girl, Mangum.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 9, at Long Leaf Baptist Church officiated by the Rev. Joshua Riley and the Rev. Clayton Rivenbark. Burial will be held in Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will see friends from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
