HAMPSTEAD — Michael Gibson Sloan, 29, beloved son and brother, left this earth way too soon on Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2017, at his home, leaving a big hole in our hearts.
He was born Nov. 29, 1988, in Wilmington, N.C., the son of Norman Sloan of Hampstead and Rita and Joey Brinkley of Teachey.
Left to cherish his memory, in addition to his parents, are his brother, Ryan, and his wife, Nicole; sister, Lindsey Blackmon, and her husband, Frankie; stepbrother, Austin Graham Brinkley; niece, Roxie Anne Blackmon; nephew, Owen Keith Sloan; paternal grandparents, Erwin and Winnifred Sloan of Turkey; and numerous friends who loved Michael dearly.
Michael loved his family very much and had special place in his heart for his canine friend, Charlie. He had a dedicated work ethic that was only matched by his support for his favorite football team, the Atlanta Falcons. Michael enjoyed shooting pool, fishing and being outdoors in God’s bountiful nature. He was loved by his family and will truly be missed in the hearts of many.
The family will receive friends at 2 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 17, at Wallace Presbyterian Church with memorial service beginning at 3 p.m. in the church sanctuary. After the service, the family will receive friends at Joey and Rita Brinkley’s home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be given to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 15829, Arlington, VA 22215.
