BALD HEAD ISLAND — Arthur J. Morris, 80, passed away Monday, Oct. 30, 2017, at Southport Nursing Center.
Mr. Morris was born Aug. 11, 1937, in Scranton, Penn., a son of the late Arthur D. Morris and Rachel Thomas Morris. He graduated from Lafayette College in Easton, Pa. Mr. Morris worked for IBM for 37 years and worked in their Italy location for five years. He retired as vice president in Program Development. Upon moving to Bald Head Island, Mr. Morris became active in the Bald Head Island Fire Department for 18 years and was a Bald Head Island councilman for 12 years. He loved people, made many friends and will be greatly missed.
Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years, Carole S. Morris of Bald Head Island; sons, Thomas Morris, and his wife, Diane, of Carlsbad, Calif., and Timothy Morris, and his wife, Anne, of Freehold, N.J.; brother, James Morris, and his wife, Kathleen, of Brigantine, N.J.; five grandchildren, Gwendolyn Morris, Patrick Morris, Benjamin Morris, Elizabeth Morris and Rachel Morris; several nieces and nephews; and loving mother-in-law, Evelyn Lillian Rush.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m., Friday, Nov. 3, at Peacock-Newnam & White Funeral and Cremation Service, Southport. A memorial service will be held at The Village Chapel of Bald Head Island at a day and time to be determined with Rev. Garret Albertson officiating. Burial will be held in Hickory Grove Cemetery, Clarks Summit, Pa.
