
SHALLOTTE — Faye H. Cheers, 79, passed away Sunday, Oct. 29, 2017, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
She was born Nov. 21, 1937, in Brunswick County, the daughter of the late Floyd and Mildred Simmons Hewett. She was preceded in death by her husband, “L.B.” Cheers; son, Robert Allen Cheers; brother, Floyd Douglas “Ducky” Hewett; and infant brother, Wendall Marcus Hewett.
Faye was a member of First Baptist Church of Shallotte. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother “Ganky” and a friend to all. She will be greatly missed.
Surviving are two daughters, Linda Hewett, and her husband, Jeris Hewett, of Supply and Dianne Cheers of Shallotte; son, Darrell Cheers, and his wife, Lisa, also of Shallotte; sister, Sally Kiplinger of Wilmington; special niece, Connie Gipson of Pensacola, Fla.; eight grandchildren, Daniel, and his wife, Amanda, Whitney, Alice, Alex, Kaitlin, Emily, Mallory and Nicholas; three great-grandchildren, Avery, Dani and Benjamin; and a host of many friends.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 31, at White Funeral and Cremation Service, Shallotte Chapel, and other times at their residence. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 1, at First Baptist Church of Shallotte with the Rev. Bob Weathers and the Rev. Landis Lancaster officiating. Interment will follow in the Chapel Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Alex Tate, Joseph Causey, Tony Hall, Phil Tripp, Henry Gales and Brian Hall.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Avery Funding for Junior Diabetes Research Foundation.
