
WILMINGTON — Opal M. McDonald Ware, 92, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2017, at The Davis Community in New Hanover County, N.C. She was born Jan. 23, 1925, in Logan County, W.Va., to Howard and Temple Bell Kazee McDonald.
Mrs. Ware was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, James “Cotton” McDonald, Robert McDonald and Wayne McDonald; sisters, Pauline White, Dorothy “Dottie” Cooper and Linda Ryder; husband, James G. Ware; daughter, Brenda Ballengee; sons-in-law, Lewis Cook and Glenn Ballengee; and grandson, Adam Ballengee.
She is survived by her daughter, Pamela Cook of Wilmington; son, James H. Ware, and his wife, Mary Anne, of Wilmington; grandchildren, Tracey, Jennifer, and her husband, John, Sara and her husband, Jeremy, Adam, Andrew, Karen, and her husband, Jeff, and Julie, and her husband Mark; and great-grandchildren, Alexis, Hunter, Blake, Joe, Cruz, McKenna, Delaney, Cooper, Ava, Lena and Jordan.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 23, at Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Service. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
