TEACHEY — Gerline Brown Hatcher, 75, left this earthly life for her eternal rest Friday, Sept. 8, 2017, from New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

She was born Sept. 28, 1941, in Duplin County and was the daughter of the late Nathan and Sara Brown. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Roy Hatcher; son, Lee Roy Hatcher; and 11 siblings.

Surviving are her devoted daughters, Rhonda Hatcher of Wallace, Sharon Servin of Teachey and Sarah Michelle Reyes of Goldsboro; grandchildren, T.J. Holmes, Jonathan Permann, Coty Jones, Xavier Gonzalez, Jennifer Ochoa, Stefany Reyes, Luis Ochoa, Angela Hatcher, Lisa Hatcher and Amber Helm; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Minnie Piner of Rose Hill, Virginia Tew of Clinton, Sadie Brown of Wilmington and Mavis Henderson of Beulaville; brothers, Victor Brown of Warsaw and Alvis Brown of Wilmington; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who loved Gerline dearly.

Gerline was a devoted wife and caring mother, grandmother and sister. She found great joy in the simplest things, but her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Being one of 17 children, she knew what it was like to share and to care for others. Gerline loved her Lord, children, grandchildren, sisters, brothers and her church family. She always enjoyed going to church when her health permitted.

Gerline will surely missed, but treasured memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 10, at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Wallace Chapel with her pastor, the Rev. Leo Bracken, officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Park, Watha. There will not be a public visitation at the funeral home, but the family will receive friends at Gerline’s home.
