ROSE HILL — Juanita Sumner Teachey, 83, left this earthly life for her eternal rest Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2017, from a tragic auto accident.
She was born Nov. 21, 1933, in Columbus County and was the daughter of the late Joe and Bertha Bradshaw Sumner. Also lovingly remembered is her husband, Myron Earl “Bud” Teachey, who passed March 26, 2017; and her grandson, Eric Teachey, who passed in May 2015. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Alene Smith; and brothers, Leo Deboise and James Deboise.

Surviving are her loving children, Leatha Pack of Rose Hill, Dwight Teachey, and his wife, Karla, of Murrells Inlet, and Herschel Teachey, and his wife, Judy, of Rose Hill; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who loved Juanita dearly.
Juanita was a devoted wife and loving mother and grandmother. She was a woman of uncommon character, beauty and grace, “an instrument of God’s love on this earth.” She was a friend to all, a strong yet gentle and loving presence to those who were blessed to know her.
Juanita enjoyed playing cards, gardening and going to the mountains. Juanita enjoyed cooking, and she especially enjoyed cooking for her family. In her younger days, she enjoyed riding rides and dancing. Juanita’s love was unconditional and absolute. She was always there when her family needed her. Juanita will surely be missed, but treasured memories of her will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 7, at Island Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Ronald Ginn officiating. Burial will follow the service in Little Creek Cemetery on Hanchey Road, Wallace. The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 p.m. on Thursday prior to the service at the church.
