Ronald Edwin “Lil Ronnie” Long was born Feb. 12, 1976, the firstborn son of Ronald E. and Nancy H. Long. Lil Ronnie passed away Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2017.
He was preceded in death by a son, Ronald “Justice” Long. Left to cherish his memory, in addition to his parents, are his two daughters, Chelsea Nicole and Lisa Veronica Long; along with one brother, Michael Long; and three sisters, Kim Beck, Kelly Hammond and Shannon Reaves.
Ronnie was a “Hometown Boy,” a legend of sorts in Wilmington, N.C. He was a hard worker. There wasn’t a door he wouldn’t knock on or a street he wouldn’t travel to find a job. Ronnie had a heart for others and was a loyal friend. He always had your back with no questions asked — he would be there! He lived life “full throttle” since the day he was born. An intense, emotionally driven guy that just didn’t talk about it, he did it! His greatest contributions to this world are his precious daughters, Chelsea and Veronica. His greatest desire is that they know how much he really loved them and that they may find the peace that seemed so elusive to him.
“A soul that struggles under addiction is tortured enough, so if at all possible, see them as a struggling soul. Try not to criminalize or dehumanize them, because they do a fine job of that all by themselves. But, don’t let them use you or take your sanity down with them. Find the balance.” (Author unknown.)
True love never dies, and we love you forever and ever!
The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 29, at the Wilmington Funeral Chapel. A service will follow at 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
