OCEAN ISLE BEACH — Michele Vasil Robert Hurley, 57, died Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2017, at SECU Lower Cape Fear Hospice.
She was born Nov. 21, 1959, in Los Angeles, Calif., and was formerly a resident of Charlotte, N.C., and Atlanta, Ga. She worked in information technology and data analytics.
She was a devoted mother and is survived by her daughter, Rachel Roberts Hendricks, and her husband, Matthew; son, Cody Owen Roberts; mother, Irene Tolvay Dowdy, and her husband, George; sister, Alyse Diane Vasil; brother, Joseph S. Vasil, and his wife, Candy; niece, Lexie Vasil; nephew, Steven Vasil; and an aunt, uncles and several cousins. Also surviving are her former husband and father of her children, Kevin Roberts, and former husband and friend, Jeff Hurley. She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Andrew Vasil.
Michele enjoyed swimming, tennis and cross stitch. Her 1978, 50-meter butterfly record at the Starclaire Swim Club in Charlotte has never been broken. She was passionate about animals, especially horses and dogs.

Memorial services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 26, at Brunswick Funeral Service Chapel, Shallotte. The family will receive friends at 10 a.m. Saturday prior to the service.
