David Earl Cook II, 50, excellent cook known for his secret catfish stew recipe

David Earl Cook II, 50, passed away at his home Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2017. He was born April 22, 1967, in Wilmington, N.C., and was a lifetime resident of Leland, N.C.

He is survived by his father and mother, David Earl Cook and Linda Nobles Cook; daughter, Dwanedia Jacobs (Jeremy); and grandson, Beckett Jacobs, whom he thought the world of; brother, Chris Cook (Tonya); nephews, Devin and Zachary Cook; and niece, Hannah Cook.

David grew up an avid outdoorsman, loving fishing and hunting. He will be remembered for many reasons, from his exceptional cooking skills and “secret catfish stew recipe,” to his mechanic skills and carpentry expertise.

David was preceded in death by his grandparents, Daniel James Cook and Esther Gibson, Thelma Soles and C.V. Nobles.

A visitation will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 19, at Goshen Baptist Church, 4124 Mt. Misery Road NE, Leland, followed by a celebration of life at 11 a.m. with Dr. Barbara Bell officiating. Burial will be held in Goshen Cemetery following services. Serving as pallbearer are Donald Cook, Jerry Robinson, Dean Rathburn, Josh Rathburn, John Bullock and Jeremy Jacobs.
