Nina Rouse Barnhill, 74, source of inspiration and strength

Nina Rouse Barnhill

Nina Rouse Barnhill, 74, born Dec. 29, 1942, passed away Friday, May 5, 2017, after courageously battling a lengthy illness and, in her own special way, never complained once. She entered heaven’s gate peacefully and surrounded by her family.

Her sons and daughter express an enormous void in their hearts and lives with their mother’s passing, describing her as loving, kind, hardworking, dedicated, faithful and a source of inspiration and strength.

In addition to be being fondly remembered as a great-mother and grandmother (her family meant everything to her), Nina Barnhill was a true Christian lady who truly lived her life in honor of His holy name. She was a stranger to none, she loved everyone. “In Jesus name, Amen.”

She was the daughter of the late John and Helen Rouse.

She is survived by her children, Freddie Barnhill (spouse, Lynn); Johnny Barnhill (spouse, Kristi); and Angela Barnhill (spouse, Mike); grandchildren, Andrew, Erica, Anna (spouse, Sean), Jessica and Austin; and siblings, John Rouse, Betty Saunders, Maria Rhodes, Brenda Leonard and Teresa Rouse.

She was preceded in death by her siblings, Gene Rouse, William Rouse, Fay Landi and Wanda Costin.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, May 8, at The Pentecostals of Wilmington, 3615 Chippenham Drive. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 9, at the church. Burial will follow in Oleander Gardens following the service. Pastors Reginald Cobia, Jeff Hoge and Floyd Morris will be officiating. Pallbearers will be Michael Gutschenritter, Andrew Henry, Austin Barnhill, Roy Hawkins, Roy Lee Barnhill, Jerry Saunders and Keith Saunders.
