William Scott Teachey, 56, adventurer who enjoyed the great outdoors

William Scott Teachey

WILMINGTON — William Scott Teachey, 56, kept an appointment he had made with his heavenly father to go to his eternal home where there would be no more sadness or pain; he died at 2:20 p.m., Monday, May 1, 2017.

He was born Nov. 28, 1960, in Wilmington, N.C., the first son of William Maynard and Linda Pygott Wolfe Teachey.

Scott was an adventurer who enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, camping and hiking. He liked to dig for treasures, literally. Scott attended Anchorage Christian Schools and Hyles Anderson College. He was a meat cutter, a traveling salesman and an antique dealer. He could sell a tick to a dog.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sister, April Teachey Royal, and her husband, Jason, of Rocky Point; brother, John Thomas Teachey of Robbins, N.C.; nieces, Rachel Royal Rowell, Crystal Teachey, Rebecca Royal, Sarah Royal and Hannah Royal; nephews, Joshua Teachey, Justin Royal and Samuel Royal; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of MUSC for the excellent care given to our loved one during his short illness.

A funeral will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, May 6, at Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Services. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11:30 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Friends and family are invited to gather for food and fellowship at Bill and Linda’s home, 676 Island Creek Road, Rocky Point, NC 28457.
