Barbara H. Hatcher, 83, retired from Putnam County Senior High

WILMINGTON — Barbara H. Hatcher, 83, died Sunday, April 23, 2017, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

She was born in Big Springs, Tenn., July 5, 1933, the daughter of the late Homer G. and Lena Brient Hunt. Also remembered are her husband, Charles Henry Hatcher; two sisters, Geraldine Petty and Eileen Owsley; and brother, Lester Hunt, all of whom preceded her in death.

Mrs. Hatcher was a secretary at Putnam County Senior High, where she retired in 1993. A devoted Christian who loved her Lord, Barbara was a former member of Stevens Street Baptist Church in Cookeville, Tenn., and a current member of Northside Baptist Church in Wilmington. She enjoyed trips with her church group as well as gardening and reading. She will be lovingly remembered as a very special lady by her family and friends.

Surviving are her son, Stephen Lester Hatcher; daughter, Sandra Hatcher Roberts (Richard); three grandchildren, Holly Anne Hatcher, Sarah Marie Roberts and Matthew Charles Roberts; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 26, at Andrews Mortuary Market Chapel with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will be held on Saturday in Crest Lawn Cemetery, Cookeville, Tenn.

The family would like to express a special note of appreciation to the entire staff at Coastal Thoracic Surgical Associates for their love and care for Mrs. Hatcher.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Northside Baptist Church Building Fund, 2501 N. College Road, Wilmington, NC 28405.
