Rebecca Gail “Becky” Easterling Mohr, 67, relished the opportunity to volunteer

OAK ISLAND — Rebecca Gail “Becky” Easterling Mohr, 67, beloved wife, mother and gramma, formerly of Charlotte, N.C., passed away peacefully with her family by her side Sunday evening, Jan. 15, 2017, following her valiant fight with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Her strong will to live, the love and prayers of family and friends carried her through the 11-month, courageous battle.

Becky was born in Wilmington, N.C., and graduated from New Hanover High School. Always devoted to her family and friends, she relished the opportunity to volunteer in her children’s schools and she contributed many hours to the church and to various causes. She will be dearly missed.

Becky is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Robert; son, Jeff Mohr (Missy) of Wesley Chapel, N.C.; daughter, Meredith Edwards (Chris) of Wilmington, N.C.; and four grandchildren, who were the lights of her life, Brian and Mia Mohr and Nolan and Reagan Edwards. In addition, she is survived by her father, Phillip; and siblings, Phillip Jr. and Phyllis.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Juanita Saunders Easterling; and sister, Anna.

A celebration of life with family and friends will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 20, at the Peacock-Newnam & White Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Levine Cancer Institute, Charlotte, N.C., and Lower Cape Fear Hospice, Wilmington, N.C.
