HAMPSTEAD — Antoinette Rosalind Paruta Dunthorn, 77, died Monday, Jan. 9, 2017, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice in Wilmington, N.C.
Annette was born on June 1, 1939, to the late Antonio and Rose Paruta of Passaic, N.J. Her husband, Donald P. Dunthorn; and a brother, Anthony Paruta, also preceded her in death.
Annette graduated from Pope Pius High School in Passaic, N.J., and was married to the late Donald P. Dunthorn for 54 years. She resided in Pearl River, N.Y., for 31 years, where they raised a family of three boys, and she worked in the Human Resources Department at Airco/BOC Corporation in Pensions Administration.
Annette and husband, Don, moved to Hampstead, N.C., in 1994. They were parishioners and church volunteers at St. Mark Catholic Church in Wilmington. Annette was an award-winning quilter, and longtime member of Quilters-by-the-Sea. She was a member of the Olde Point Golf Club and enjoyed time spent with the Olde Point Bowlers League.
She loved entertaining and cooking for friends, neighbors and family. She and Don loved traveling locally and nationally, absorbing all aspects of the cultures they visited.
She loved contributing to the raising of their grandchildren and spending time with them at the Olde Point pool and going shopping. She enjoyed the beach and going on boat rides as the shore was a large part of her childhood heritage.
She is survived by her three sons, Donald Jeffrey Dunthorn, and his wife, Debra, Steven Thomas Dunthorn, and his wife, Robbin, and Jeffrey Matthew Dunthorn; and two grandchildren, Dalton Thomas Dunthorn and Spencer Anne Dunthorn.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 16, at Andrews Hampstead Chapel, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. celebrated by the Rev. Skip Williams.
A Mass of the resurrection will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17, at St. Mark Catholic Church with the Rev. Father Patrick Keane officiating.
