SUPPLY — George Carl Schramm, 82, passed away Thursday, Dec. 29, 2016, at his residence surround by his loving family.
He was born in Kearny, N.J., on June 1, 1934, the son of the late George Carl Schramm and Gertrude Helen Harrison Schramm. He was also preceded in death by a son, Robert James Schramm.
Mr. Schramm was a member of St. James Episcopal Church. He was a volunteer fireman and former chief for West Keansburg, N.J. He was past president of New Jersey Fire Chief’s Association and a fireman with Tri-Beach Volunteer Fire Department. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Jacquelin Virginia Schramm of the home; one son, William Arthur Schramm, and his wife, Gail, of West Keansburg, N.J.; three daughters, Deborah Ann Layton and Terry Hewett of Ocean Isle Beach, N.C., Kathleen Denise Desjean, and her husband, Raymond, of Supply, N.C., and Cynthia Sue Cambeis, and her husband, George, of Supply; brother, Edward Arthur Schramm of Arizona; 13 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren; and former son-in-law, John Layton of Ocean Isle Beach, N.C.
The family will receive family and friends from 3 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2017, at White Funeral and Cremation Service Shallotte Chapel, 3660 Express Drive. A celebration of life will be held at noon Thursday, Jan. 5, at St. James the Fisherman Episcopal Church, 4941 Main St., Shallotte, with the Rev. David J. Davis, rector, officiating.
