
LELAND — Wilma Elizabeth R. Powell, 74, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, Dec. 4, 2016. She was born in Eden, N.C., on March 29, 1942, the daughter of the late Jim Rieson and Hazel Stanley Rieson.
Wilma was a kind and generous person who devoted her time to the Blind Association for many years and was able to assist those who have lost their sight in teaching them new ways to do things in life. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time in the company of her family.
She also enjoyed spending time with her husband at their condo in Myrtle Beach and working in the yard side by side.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 57 years, Larry Jack Powell of Leland, N.C.; son, Larry A Powell, and wife, Sonya; daughters, Lavon Keith, and husband, Michael, and Cynthia Lee, and husband, Paul; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, Pat Stanley; and numerous other loving family and friends.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7, at Quinn McGowen Wilmington Chapel with Pastor Barbara Bell officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Oleander Memorial Gardens in Wilmington, N.C.
