WILMINGTON — Marie Harvan Nicholson, 78, of Wilmington, died unexpectedly Friday, Nov. 25, 2016, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington.
She was born Jan. 21, 1938, to John Edward Harvan Sr. and Hazel Ferrazetta Harvan.
Ms.Nicholson grew up in Greensburg, Pa., and later moved to Meadville, Pa., where she lived the majority of her life and raised her daughter, Staci Lynne. In 2007, she began her life in Wilmington, which she enjoyed for many years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her brother, Richard Thomas Harvan.
She is survived by a daughter, Staci Lynne Nicholson of Wilmington; brothers, Donald James Harvan of Durham, N.C., and John Edward “Jack” Harvan Jr. of Irwin, Pa.; as well as nieces, Renée Harvan and Lisa Kuzneski; and nephew, Tom Harvan.
Marie was a strong, generous, and caring woman who touched countless lives. She was a faithful servant of the Lord, involved in numerous church programs, including RCIA, Pastoral Council, and prison ministry. She loved her daughter very much, who was her pride and joy. She also loved watching sports, especially cheering on her favorite team, the Pittsburg Steelers.
Visitation will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1, at Coble Ward Smith Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 2, at St. Mark Catholic Church with the Rev. Michael J. Burbeck officiating.
