CASTLE HAYNE — Susan Dale Wilson Sykes, 64, of Castle Hayne, passed away Saturday, Nov. 26, 2016, at New Hanover Regional Medical.
Susan was born Oct. 7, 1952, to the late Charles E. Staub and Betty J. Morrow in Louisville, Ky.
Susan worked in administration for the New Hanover Tax Department for 30 years before retirement. One of Susan’s favorite things was spending time with her grandchildren and spoiling them throughout the year.
Susan was preceded in death by her parents, Charles E. Staub and Betty J. Morrow; and her husband of 28 years and father of their three sons, Michael J. Wilson.
Susan is survived by her three sons, Jimmie Wilson of Wilmington, David Wilson, and wife, Christina, of Ashville, and Brandon Wilson of Wilmington; four loving grandchildren of her sons, Collin, Kinslee, Michael Adalynn. Susan is also survived by her husband of 16 years, Robert Sykes; stepson, Brian Sykes; stepdaughters, Autumn Brown and Dakota Sykes; grandchildren, Whitney, Sadie, James Robert and Jeslyn; great-grandson, Kyle; her brother, Charlie Staub of Wilmington; sisters, Sandi Grant of Jacksonville and Sherry Moy of Thurmont, Md.; along with six nieces. Susan is also leaving behind her beloved dog, “Nutbutt.”
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30, at the Wilmington Chapel, 1535 S. 41st St., Wilmington.
