WILMINGTON — Betty Wood Seal, 77, of Wilmington, N.C., died peacefully at home on Thursday, Nov. 17, 2016. She was born in Bybee, Tenn., the only child of Tom and Mae Anders Wood.

Betty’s favorite roles in life were wife and mother. She is survived by her loving husband, Rex Seal, of 59 years; her sons, Jeff (Linda) and Mark (Denise); and daughters, Karen (Bobby) Chadwick, and Christi Kleoudis. Betty was also a proud grandmother of Jason (deceased), Matt (Tricia), Nathan, Chris, Evan, Jonathan, John and Nick. She became a great-grandmother in April this year to Rhett Matthew Seal. The family wants to acknowledge Betty’s very good friend of many years, Naomi Ball.

Betty followed in her mom’s footsteps as a teacher and later became a realtor in Wilmington for many years, helping others find a place they could call home. She was also a dedicated Belk shopper who took joy in finding a great bargain and her family was always well dressed!

Visitation will be held at Andrews Valley Chapel on Sunday, Nov. 20, from 3 to 5 p.m. A memorial service will be held on Monday, Nov. 21 at 3 p.m. at Pine Valley Baptist Church, with Rev. Brian Blackwell and Pastor Rick Crocker officiating.

Betty enjoyed packing Shoebox gifts each year for needy children around the world and had items prepared to pack her own boxes this year. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that Shoebox gifts be packed for, or contributions made to, Operation Christmas Child thru Samaritan’s Purse, P.O. Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607, to bring joy to a child.
