WILMINGTON — John Earl Blake, born June 14, 1984, in Wilmington N.C., died in a car accident on Oct. 18, 2016, at the age of 32. He is preceded in death by his father, Jesse Blake; brother, Joseph Blake, who passed away from a brain tumor in November 2015. Joseph’s passing had a big impact on John.
Surviving are Kyra Blake, his beloved daughter of Wilmington, N.C.; Janet Blake, mother; brother, Jesse Blake Jr., both of Leland, N.C.; and a half brother, Jeff, of Rocky Point, N.C.
John will be remembered for his loving, kind, gentle, compassionate spirit. His daughter Kyra was the love of his life and spending time with her was his favorite thing to do.
John had many talents and abilities. Throughout school he attended classes for academically gifted students. In the fourth grade at Blount Elementary School, he received an award for his creative writing. As a teenager, he was in the youth group at Pine Valley Church of God. John loved to play basketball and did so growing up in the church leagues. John also attended Laney High School.
John worked as a plumber, a skill he learned from his father growing up. John had talents working detailing cars and car audio and stereo as well. John was on his way to pursue his passion for being a barber. He truly enjoyed cutting friends and families hair. He planned on going back to school for it next semester.
If you had a chance to even meet John, he would have a wonderful affect on you. To know him was a great gift because he truly cared for his friends and family. He always knew how to make someone smile.
