WILMINGTON — Anthony Michael Malaschak Jr., 64, of Wilmington, passed away Friday, Oct. 21, 2016. He was the husband of Carol (Richardson) Malaschak. Born in St. Louis, Missouri, on March 7, 1952, he was the son of the late Anthony and Dolores (Boyer) Malaschak.
Anthony worked as a Police Officer for 17 years, he then went back to school to become a Registered Nurse. He loved his family more than anything and we all knew him as Big Teddy Bear.
His enjoyments included reading, playing the piano and singing.One of his proudest moments was when he sang The Lord’s Prayer on the step at Arlington National Cemetery. Anthony was a huge history buff and loved learning.
Besides his wife Carol, he is survived by one son Jamie Land of Calif., four daughters; Lacy (Malaschak) Hunt of New Jersey; Heather and Heath Johnson of Montana; Lisa and Michael Rea of Wilmington, N.C., and Anita and Charles Kennedy of Leland, N.C.; two brothers; Gary and Donna Malaschak of Ill.;David Malaschak of Calif.; two sisters; Anne and Mike Olish, Susan and Terry Mondy, both of Ill.; 10 grandchildren Mikayla, Kylee, Braden, Connar, AnnaBelle, Alexis, Austin, Nicholas, Scott, and Chris; he is also survived by six great-grandchildren, Bradyn, Kaylee, Jacob, Bailey, Raelee and Adlynn.
A Memorial Service will be held on Oct. 25 at North Side Baptist Church, 205 College Road, Wilmington, at 7 p.m.
