WILMINGTON — Alexander David Moss, 70, of Wilmington, passed away Oct. 16, 2016, at home. He was born on June 17, 1946, to Perley and Camilla Dickinson (Austin) Moss in Vineland, N.J.
Alex retired from Atlantic Diving and Marine Contractors as a commercial diver and later as a shop foreman. He was also a talented blacksmith creating iron gates and decorative iron art. He was a member of the North Carolina Custom Knifemakers Guild making beautiful knives. He was also an avid reader of all genres of literature.
Alexander is survived by his wife, Janis Flowers Moss; two Sons, Erik Anthony Moss, Roy Lee Moss; stepdaughter, Jill Norris; stepson, Brian Tucker; granddaughter, Katherine Norris; sister, Patricia Anne Smilie; his mother-in-law, Claire Flowers; sister-in-law, Eleanor Moss; and nephews, Kenneth Scott Moss and David Anthony Smilie.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Roy Lee Moss and sister, Camille Bruder.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016, from 4-6 p.m. at Andrews Market Street, Wilmington.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Saving Animals During Disasters or Lower Cape Fear Hospice would be appreciated.
